UNIVERSITI Teknologi Brunei (UTB) hosted a religious talk and prayer session at its lecture hall yesterday, to welcome the new Hijrah year of 1439.
Dr Hajah Noor Maya binti Haji Md Salleh, the Acting Vice-Chancellor of UTB, was present as the guest of honour at the religious event which began with the recitation of the Surah Al-Fatihah.
This was followed by a religious talk delivered by Ustaz Haji Abdussalam bin Haji Abdul Rahman, a guest speaker from the Islamic Da’wah Centre.
The ceremony continued with a recitation of Doa Kesyukuran for UTB’s success in attaining four stars in the QS Star Rating.
The QS is an international rating system that measures institutions in particular areas of excellence.
It also provides students with a wider perspective of a particular institution’s qualities.
The ceremony concluded with the Dikir Marhaban, and a recitation of Doa Selamat led by Ustaz Md Fazalley bin Haji Hidup, the Religious Officer of UTB, to celebrate the safe return of UTB’s Haj pilgrims that included its lecturers, staff members and students.
