USTAZAH Siti Zaliha binti Hj Abu Salim has been elected president for a second term to lead the Down Syndrome Association (ABLE) for 2015-2016 following the Annual General Meeting on Sunday.
The meeting at the Sultan Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien College was attended by Hajah Siti Mariam binti Haji Md Jafar, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Health, who is also advisor of the association.
Awang Tuming bin Haji Jais was elected Deputy President while Hajah Marinah binti Haji Abd Hadi the First Secretary.
The position ofDeputy Secretary 1 went to Jasmin Hj Ibrahim and Second Secretary to Elizawati Zabidi.
Deputy Secretary 2 is Ibrahim Bin Haji Ahim. Hajah Taridah binti Haji Punggut was elected Treasurer.
Raudhah@Josnani Haji Jumat and Haji Md Jamil bin Haji Md Salleh were elected Deputy Treasurer 1 and Deputy Treasurer 2 respectively.
The committee also heard the financial report as well as information on past activities.
Ustazah Siti Zaliha said, “Those elected executive committee members are people entrusted with the responsibility to carry out tasks to fulfill the objectives of the association.”
“They must accept their roles because if we do not accept the elected post, who else will help the association in the fight for our children who have Down Syndrome.
“The children need us as parents, as family members and as members of association in promoting awareness among the community.”
