REPRESENTING the United Kingdom on the occasion of Brunei Darussalam’s 31st National Day celebration, Queen Elizabeth and British High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam, David Campbell, sent their congratulations to His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.
Queen Elizabeth said, “It gives me great pleasure to send Your Majesty my warmest greetings on the celebration of your National Day, together with my best wishes for the happiness and prosperity of the people of Brunei Darussalam in the coming year.
Adding onto these well-wishes, the British High Commissioner said, “There exist so many close links between the United Kingdom and Brunei, in terms of defence, education, energy and investment.
“We are delighted to welcome so many Bruneians to the UK each year who choose to study, work or live in my country. In return, I know too that my fellow British citizens in Brunei Darussalam will join me in sending their warm congratulations on this special day.
“Earlier this week, the British Prime Minister, David Cameron MP, was delighted to welcome His Majesty to the Prime Minister’s country residence at Chequers, and to extend his own personal greetings in the run up to your National Day, as well as to reflect on the many close ties that exist between our two countries. Happy National Day.”
