TEN Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) students yesterday departed for Indonesia to take part in a community service programme and student placements in several “Pesantrens” (religious school) in Cianjur, West Java, Indonesia, the university said in a press release.
The programme was organised by UNISSA’s Student Welfare and Development Committee.
The delegation was led by Dr Azme bin Haji Matali, Dean of Students, UNISSA.
The students will be attached to three schools: Pesantren Al-Mubarokah, Pesantren Miftahul Huda Al-Musri’ and Pesantren Al-Musri’ for fifteen days from December 14 to 28. Among the objectives of the programme are to expose the students to the ‘Salafussoleh’ method of religious teaching, impart valuable experience as well as to improve cooperation between the two countries.
