UNIVERSITI Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Jordan University and Al al-Bayt University for academic cooperation on December 15 and 16 at Mafraq, Jordan.
Signing on behalf of UNISSA was Dr Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal, Rector UNISSA while Professor Dr Ekhlief Tarawneh, President of Jordan University and Professor Dr Diaa Eddin Arafa, President of Al al-Bayt University signed on behalf of the institutions.
Attending the ceremony was Pengiran Muhd Salimin bin Pengiran Haji Daud, First Secretary of the Brunei Darussalam Ambassador to Jordan. As per agreement, both universities will cooperate in academic fields including the mobilisation of staff and students. Accompanying the delegation of UNISSA was Deputy Rector, Dr Haji Mohammed Hussain bin Pehin Penyurat Haji Ahmad and Director of Mazhab Shafi’e Research Centre, Dr Abdul Nasir bin Haji Abdul Rani.
The delegation also held discussions with the Secretary General, Ministry of Higher Studies and Scientific Research, Jordan; Deputy Secretary General of the Association of Arab Universities (AArU); President World Islamic Sciences and Education University (WISE) and President of University Yarmouk, Jordan. They then paid a courtesy call to new President of University of Al-Azhar, Professor Dr Abdel-Hai Azab Abdel-Aal.
A visit to the Arabic Republic of Egypt was also made, during which, joint discussions between the National Library and Archives of Egypt (NLAE), Islamic Universities League, Islamic Research Academy, and World Association for Al-Azhar Graduates, WAAG was held.
