WINNERS of the Jawi/Arab Handwriting Competition, held in conjunction with Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali’s (UNISSA) 4th Convocation Ceremony, received their prizes in a ceremony at the Centrepoint Hotel in Gadong yesterday.
Organised by the Arabic Language and Islamic Civilisation Faculty of UNISSA, the competition received over 160 entries from students from Government and Private Education institutions nationwide and saw 30 emerging as winners.
The competition was divided into three categories – A for ages under 12 years, B for ages 12-18 years and C for 19 years and above.
Alya’ Nuna binti Hayatuddin, Abdul Azib bin Haji Abdul Aziz and Hazimah binti Abdullah Kalat were the champions of Category A, B and C respectively.
All the top 10 winners in each category earned themselves either cash prizes or consolation prizes while winners in each categories received a cash prize of $200.
Handing over the prizes was guest of honour, Dr Abang Hadzimin bin Haji Abang Taha, Assistant Raes of Kolej Universiti Perguruan Ugama Seri Begawan (KUPUSB), who was the former Dean of the Arabic Language and Islamic Civilisation Faculty of UNISSA.
