THE Islamic Dakwah Centre (PDI) yesterday organised a “Mawaddah War Rahmah” programme for an underprivileged Muslim convert, Awang Alif Safwan bin Abdullah, in Kampong Pengkalan Sibabau.
Leading the team during the visit was Ustaz Abd Aziz bin Haji Abd Kahar, Acting Assistant Director of the PDI.
Officials and general staff of the centre made their way to the recipient’s wooden stilt house through a wet muddy area.
The visitors were greeted upon their arrival by Awang Alif Safwan and his wife. The visit then proceeded with a recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and a brief remark from Ustaz Abd Aziz, followed by a donation of cash and basic household necessities.
The 46-year-old Muslim convert, who lives with his wife and three children whom are currently enrolled at school, expressed his appreciation and gratitude for the generous contribution towards his family.
A thanksgiving prayer was then recited to further bless the occasion, followed by the visitors engaging in the cleaning and clearing of the house’s surroundings.
The objective of the visit was to lend a hand to the less fortunate members of society that are in need of assistance as well as to strengthen the relationships of the staff involved.
It is hoped that the charitable programme will also raise awareness among the general public to render assistance to the less fortunate should it be within their means to do so.
