THE prosecution in a case, in which a 45-year-old Indian man facing charges of murder and attemp-ted murder linked to a death at the Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) and the grave injuries of two Indian men, tendered the psychiatric reports to the Bandar Magistrate’s Court which found the defendant to be of unsound mind.
Chief Magistrate Muhammed Faisal Pehin Datu Juragan Laila Diraja Dato Seri Paduka Awg Kefli granted DPP Rozaimah Rahman’s application for the case to be remitted to the High Court.
Sekar Appavu has been found to be of unsound mind after undergoing psychiatric evaluation at the RIPAS Hospital.
According to the Ong Sum Ping CID Police’s Special Investigations Unit, Sekar is alleged to have murdered 45-year-old Rajendran Kumarasami and attempted to murder 40-year-old Pazhani-velu Sivalinkam at about 12.30pm on December 20, 2014 at UBD’s Green House, Jalan Tungku Link in Gadong.
A High Court date had not been fixed as of yesterday.
