A UNIVERSITI Brunei Darussalam (UBD) delegation of 12 students and two lecturers led by Dr Yabit Alas, Director of the Language Centre of UBD left the country yesterday to begin their 10-day ‘Discovery Trip to China’.
The delegation will visit Xiamen, Quanzhou and Fuzhou in Fujian Province. The trip is supported by the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Brunei Darussalam.
Sending off the UBD delegation at the Brunei International Airport was Yang Jian, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Brunei Darussalam, and other officials.
During the trip, the delegation will visit Xiamen University and Fujian Normal University, where they will interact with Chinese lecturers and students. They will also witness the students’ entrepreneurial activities, visit hi-tech enterprises, attend activities including the opening ceremony of the 3rd Maritime Silk Road International Arts Festival and Quanzhou Maritime Silk Road Carnival, and also tour renowned cultural and historical sites.
‘Discovery Trip to China’ is an important annual programme of people-to-people exchanges between China and Brunei. Last year in May and December, two groups of Bruneian students visited Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing, Shenzhen and Guangzhou.
