THE Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) personnel from the Limau Manis Police Station and the Reserve Unit Company ‘C’ detained two women for smuggling contraband into the Sultanate.
Police personnel on duty at the Bebuloh Control Post found the two women crossing the border with a black plastic bag allegedly carrying 16 beer cans and nine beer bottles. Before they could scurry to a waiting vehicle across the border, the police managed to apprehend them.
All the items were confiscated and brought to the Limau Manis Police Station.
The two women are currently in custody for further investigation.
RBPF, which has initiated a major drive to curb smuggling offences that have been a worrying trend in the Sultanate, reminded members of the public not to be involved in such activities and to report any suspicious activities of such nature to 993 hotline or a nearby police station.
