A FOREIGNER was detained yesterday after immigration officers found that he had abused his social visit pass and worked as a mechanic in a workshop.
Fourteen officers were involved in the operation which targeted a house that was under construction and three separate business premises in Mukim Sengkarai, Kiudang and Keriam in the Tutong District.
A special pass was issued to the foreigner and his passport was seized and a call letter was issued to his employer to assist in the investigation. Log and receipt books were also seized as evidence.
Another foreign man was also detained after the officers found that he had abused his immigration pass and worked at a steel factory. A special pass was also issued while his temporary identity card was confiscated.
He was ordered to be present at the Enforcement Section for investigation. His employer was also issued with a special pass to assist in the investigation.
The Immigration and National Registration Department reminded employers and foreign workers to adhere to the rules and regulations, warning that they would continue to conduct random checks.
