TUTONG District added further embarrassment to the Combined Telecommunications Companies Team after hammering the Group ‘B’ basement side 11-0 without a single reply in the futsal event of the Brunei Darussalam National Games (SKBD) at the Indoor Stadium of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex last night.
The bottom side are all but out of contention with the defeat while Tutong professionally did the job as a pick-up following their opening-day loss in the tournament.
Tutong largely dominated the entire match and never gave time and space for the telecommunications side.
Even the coach was saying he would be happy if his charges emulate the creation of the goals.
The match was sealed, signed and delivered by half- time and the team was able to stay relaxed in the second half playing with confidence.
The coach made rotations in the second half and a reserve goalkeeper even had the time out in the pitch.
As a flurry of goals rolled helplessly into the telecommunications net, Tutong goal initiated from a carefree passing move that ended with a soft but effective outcome.
Tutong will have tougher matches than this, that’s for sure, and only then they can test their resolve and patience in the games that counts for qualification.
Meanwhile, Institute of Higher Learning (IPT) journey straight to Group B qualification will not be a walk in the park as the Royal Brunei Armed Forces Sports Council outscored a 5-4 victory.
A brace from Md Iswandi and Saiful Ariffin and a 10th minute strike from Ratano gave the army men a massive boost while goals from Md Arif, Faizul Jefri, Farhan and Ahmad Arif were to no avail.
A win against MS ABDB would have secure qualification for IPT but they are firm favourites to advance to the semi-finals with a victory against Combined Telecommunications Companies.
The other night match also saw Royal Brunei Police Force Sports Council beating Royal Brunei FC 6-1.
