THE inaugural ‘Perkampungan’ Programme concluded with a closing and certificate presentation ceremony at the Official Residence of the Tutong District Office yesterday.
The five-day programme, joined by 20 participants, was the first activity organised for the Tutong District Volunteers since its formation recently and aimed to provide the best platform for participants to showcase their capabilities, skills and expertise in respective fields through charity and volunteering work activities. The Tutong District Officer, Wardi bin Hj Mohammad Ali said the ‘Perkampungan’ programme will be continued from time to time.
On hand to present the certificates was the guest of honour, Hj Mohammad Sunadi bin Hj Buntar, Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs.
The programme was filled with activities focused on strengthening the participants’ ‘Jati Diri’ (or personal values); enhancing their respective capabilities and preparing themselves for volunteering work activities. They were placed in groups and assigned with tasks to handle community volunteer work projects including socio-economy activities to help those in need.
Awg Wardi revealed that participants showed much commitment to the welfare of others especially through successfully helping a single mother in the ‘One Village, One Product’ programme.
The establishment of the Tutong District Volunteers, he said, received an encouraging response from the public. The Tutong District Office has identified a building, which will be utilised as an activity and registration centre for volunteers while serving as the training venue for new members.
Attendees also watched a video clip of activities during the programme including a presentation of business proceeds to two 1K1P entrepreneurs at the ceremony.
