THE Religious Section, Directorate of Administration of Human Resources, Ministry of Defence (MinDef) yesterday held an Al-Quran reading competition for the Royal AMBD Surau Al-Quran Study (M3 AQSA) group at the Concert Hall of Bolkiah Garrison.
The event’s guest of honour was Haji Adi Irham bin Dato Paduka Haji Mahmud, the Acting Director of Defence Policy.
Six groups consisting of seven individuals competed in the competition.
For the male category, Tutong Camp Surau came in first place, followed by Berakas Garrison Surau and Royal Navy Brunei Surau in second and third places respectively.
In the female category, Tutong Camp Surau also won first place, followed by Royal Navy Brunei Surau in second place and MinDef Surau in third.
The competition’s objectives echoed His Majesty’s titah and call to make the country a Zikir nation by instilling interest and the culture of reading Al-Quran among all ages as well as producing a more literate generation who understand contents of the Al-Quran.
The M3 AQSA is an Al-Quran reading class open to MinDef affiliates and the public. It is joined by 1,500 students throughout all Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) camps.
