THE Jakarta Fashion Week (JFW), which is considered one of the biggest fashion events in Southeast Asia, took place recently, showcasing the creativity of designers from Indonesia and overseas, including from the United Kingdom, Japan, Thailand and Korea.
One of the highlights was the presentation of collections which cater to the needs of Muslim women who seek fashionable yet modest clothes.
According to the AntaraNews.com website, 18 Muslim wear designers showcased their collections.
The JFW plays a significant role in strengthening Jakarta’s position as one of Asia’s fashion hubs. As the event was covered by numerous international journalists, the designers got the widest possible exposure, be it in Italy, Australia, Japan, Norway, Singapore or Malaysia, AntaraNews.com said.
The annual JFW also provides a direction for the country’s fashion industry. The event’s organisers aim to develop Indonesian fashion business and creativity in preparation to penetrate the international market, AntaraNews.com said.
