NEW YORK (WP-BLOOM) – Can you imagine hundreds of thousands of toys in one place?
That might sounds like a dream come true to you, but for a lot of people it’s actually work. Well, a pretty fun kind of work.
Thousands of grown-ups in the toy business gathered recently in New York for the 112th North American International Toy Fair.
They picked the best toy of 2014: Zoomer Dino, which also was a favourite of our toy testers.
And they showed off new toys, most of which aren’t yet on store shelves.
Toy store owners try to decide whether any of these items will end up on your holiday list. That’s a tough job!
The trends included “smart” toys, which work with an app, including a Barbie that can respond to questions and play games. Mini dinosaurs, some related to the upcoming movie “Jurassic World”, were abundant at the fair.
Classic toys and games, including View-Master and Scrabble, were re-imagined for the digital age. And crafty kids have several new options that feature “upcycling” or creating something fun from things you might otherwise throw away.
