THE final day to register for the Standard Chartered Trophy is tomorrow.
The Standard Chartered Trophy 2015 is an international five a-side futsal and the Brunei qualifying tournament will kick off on February 16.
Marilyn Graeme, Head Corporate Affairs, said, “We’re extremely excited to be able to organise this tournament in Brunei, leveraging on our partnership with Liverpool FC to offer a very unique experience for the winning team of the tournament, which is a chance to play on a Premier League standard pitch in England to compete for the trophy”.
The winner of the local tournament will advance to the regional tournament in Kuala Lumpur to compete against the best team from Malaysia and Thailand.
The regional winner from this tournament will then move on the finals in England.
All trips will be fully paid by Standard Chartered Bank.
The local tournament will see 24 teams participating, with the finals taking place on February 21.
Participants must be Brunei citizens or permanent residents, be over 18 years of age and not be professional or semi-professional players.
The winning team from the Brunei tournament will go on to compete in the regional tournament in Kuala Lumpur, on March 28.
In addition to the tournament, participants can also look forward to a training session at the Liverpool FC Academy with the club’s coaches and legends.
