SINCE November 2014, Telekom Brunei Berhad (TelBru) has introduced and encouraged customers to start checking their data usage details via its e-Bill online and e-Bill mobile app.
The purpose of checking their monthly data usage is to help them monitor their usage details as to familiarise themselves with the amount of bandwidth and speed suitable for them based on their average usage every month.
The recent introduction of TelBru new broadband pricing plan that will be implemented effective March 1, 2015, will require customers to proactively check their usage details, that will give an indication of the average monthly data they are using.
This will make it easier for the customers to decide the most suitable plan for them to enjoy a greater Internet experience.
An average Bruneian household uses about 60GB of data per household line, which is shared amongst four to five users in the household.
Typically, the usage includes social media, emails, gaming, chatting, and the occassional video streaming.
Because video streaming is one of the fastest growing applications, customers need to be aware of the data usage associated with it.
There are varying standards and resolutions available for video streaming but in general, 45GB of data would get continuously 17 hours of normal quality streaming at 360p or approximately 30 minutes of streaming per day for 30 days.
In order for customers to check their data usage details, TelBru has introduced two methods. They can either register to its e-Bill online services at www.telbru.com.bn/ebill or by downloading its e-Bill mobile app to their smartphones for free.
