NUR Ameerah bte Hj Mamit, Nur Izzati bte Hj Azhan and Abdullah Umar bin Dr Hj Awg Zulaidi were named top students at the Jerudong International School (JIS) Religious School Sijil Sekolah Sekolah Rendah Ugama (SSRU) certificate presentation yesterday.
Permanent Secretary (Policy and Investment) at the Ministry of Finance cum guest of honour Dato Paduka Awg Hj Hisham bin Hj Mohd Hanifah awarded the certificates to the students, in his capacity as chairman of the board of directors of JIS.
Delivering her speech, JIS Religious School Principal Hjh Noraidah bte Hj Tengah urged students to incorporate religious knowledge gained into their everyday lives, and to be actively involved in welfare activities.
She also acknowledged that a Primary 2 student from the school had earned top honours at the national level, and that a Primary 6 student had done the same at the Brunei III level.
In a separate speech, JIS Acting Principal Barnaby Sandow praised the collective efforts of the religious teachers who helped produce excellent results at the SSRU level.
Meanwhile, another JIS Religious School student has gained entry into the finals of the Khatam Al-Quran (under 10 category), while four other students were selected for the recent 68-times Khatam event held in conjunction with the 68th birthday of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, she added.
A total of 40 students received their SSRU Primary 6 certificates.
The pass rate for the SSRU Primary 6 (2013) stood at 98 per cent.
