JOHOR BAHARU (Bernama) – Police have arrested three men believed to have robbed a couple at Taman Pelangi here early this morning.
South Johor Baru police chief ACP Sulaiman Salleh said the three suspects were in a Toyota Vios car when they were stopped by a police patrol team and a Ninja squad about 45 minutes after robbing the couple in Jalan Biru 1 in the housing estate.
“The incident occurred at about 5am when the victims, aged 18 and 20 years, were waiting for a taxi to get to their workplace,” he said in a statement here.
Sulaiman said two of the suspects armed with machetes approached the victims and relieved of them of their valuables worth RM300 before fleeing in the vehicle.
He said a police patrol and a Ninja squad received information on the incident and tracked the suspects to Jalan Tebrau before intercepting them at Jalan Sutera, Taman Sentosa, here at 5.45am.
He said from an inspection of the suspect’s vehicle, police recovered two machetes, a knife, four mobile phones, a cutter and several items believed taken from the couple, including passports, a pair of spectacles and a power bank.
