IMMIGRATION enforcement officers detained three foreign workers in their latest raid for flouting immigration rules and regulations. They were caught in a raid at a rented house in Jln Kompleks in Mumong and at the national housing site in Panaga.
In Mumong, two foreign workers including a female worker failed to show valid documents and were detained for passport verifications. The woman employed as a housemaid ran away from her employer in Bandar Seri Begawan since September and possessed expired immigration pass exceeding two months.
Following the above inspection, the enforcement personnel also questioned three foreign workers in Seria. A foreign worker was then brought to the Immigration Department for further investigation as he was responsible for protecting the female worker.
The Immigration Department has reminded employers and foreign workers to adhere to rules and regulations, as they would continue to conduct random checks.
The department added that it welcomed public tip-off on immigration violations and that information would be kept confidential. The public can contact its hotline at 8753888 or 8734888.
