MAULIDUR Rasul celebrations are being held across all four districts in the country to mark the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).
In the Belait District, the celebration was held in the town area with Deputy Minister of Education Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar attending as the guest of honour.
In total, 4,236 participants (split into 43 teams) marched in the 3.4-kilometre route around the town to mark the occasion, among them being Legislative Council (LegCo) member cum Mukim Liang Penghulu YB Haji Abdul Hamid bin Haji Mumin, LegCo member cum Mukim Labi Acting Penghulu YB Hanapi bin Mohd Siput, the Acting Belait District Officer, senior officials from the Ministry of Religious Affairs, heads of various government departments, mukim penghulus and village heads, as well as chairmen and representatives of private associations.
The event started with the recitation of verses from Al-Quran by Ahmad Zulwaqar bin Suhaili, and a briefing by Religious Development Officer Haji Muhammad Nazir bin Haji Othman from the Islamic Da’wah Centre.
Mosque officers, religious teachers and Mosque Takmir Committes in the Belait District staged a Dikir Marhaban performance.
Before the march around the town, a Doa Selamat was read by Imam Mohd Shahirwandy bin Samsudin of the STKRJ Lorong Tiga Selatan Seria Mosque.
As the participants set off on the march, the Fitrah Group staged a Tausyeh performance.
The event aimed to enliven the celebration and encourage participants to glorify the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).
Meanwhile, in the Tutong District, the celebration was held at the Muda Hashim Primary School with Deputy Minister of Energy and Industry at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) Dato Paduka Awang Haji Jamain bin Haji Julaihi attending as the guest of honour.
This year, 4,884 individuals participated in the procession. They were split into 46 teams: uniformed units, government departments, secondary schools, associations, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), private sector and village consultative councils and members of mosque Takmir committees.
The guest of honour presented certificates to the heads of contingents involved in the Maulidur Rasul procession.
The event continued with a Dikir Marhaban performance by mosque youth associations and a Doa Selamat recitation by Imam Haji Junadi bin Haji Sabtu, the former Imam of Kampong Telisai Mosque, before the procession began.
Also held yesterday was the Women’s Council assembly at the Tutong District Community Hall Complex, which was attended by Hajah Ainah binti Haji Ali, spouse of the Deputy Minister of Energy and Industry at the PMO, and other guests.
The event began with a speech by Women’s Council assembly Chairperson Hajah Norhayati binti Haji Sawal.
A special lecture was delivered by Ustazah Siti Noraziah binti Haji Asli from the Islamic Da’wah Centre, who pointed out that the theme of this year’s celebration, ‘The Messenger of Allah: An Example of a Righteous Leader,’ is to increase awareness on the importance of justice and balance of responsibilities and respect among families.
