ABU Bakar bin Sulaiman, 35, yesterday pleaded guilty before the Bandar Magistrate’s Court to 16 charges of attempted thefts, thefts and mischief by causing damage.
His sentence will be passed on November 27.
The defendant asked for leniency from Magistrate Azrimah Rahman in considering punishment as he needs to look after his sick mother and child.
DPP Danial Kifrawi stated in his facts of the case to the court that the defendant’s modus operandi was to break-in and stealing money or items, and causing damages in the course of the break-ins.
The defendant struck at a shop on Kampung Pandan 7 Kuala Belait, an optic shop in Jalan Bunga Melor Seria, an interior designing shop at Regent Square Kiulap, a saloon at Wisma Yakin Pandan 5 Kuala Belait and several shops at The Mall, Gadong.
All offences were committed this year.
