Thank you Brunei, I’ll be back

MY WIFE  and I recently visited Brunei to conduct a parrot hand rearing course. The venue was picture perfect at Hadfa Garden near the Rimba Horticulture.

The attendance was great, the students were keen for knowledge and the organiser, Md Khairullah Haji Jumat of Tibnin Aviaculture Company, did a great job in setting up the venue to make the course a success.

While in Brunei, we stayed at the home of Zynldgreat (Zainal Arshad) who showed us around Brunei and surrounding areas. Pengiran Zulaihi took us to the Science Museum which educated us about oil exploration and extraction.

Various friends gave us information about Brunei which at first we did not believe. No income tax, free healthcare, free education and His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam working for the good of the people. Wow, how come I had not learnt about Brunei years ago. I would have moved my parrots and all here.

Driving around Brunei, we were impressed by the infrastructure, beautifully-maintained parks and gardens, and most of all, the cleanliness. Looking up what a tourist can do in Brunei, I was surprised at the small number of days it would take to see everything.

I believe that a beautiful country like Brunei is one of the best kept secrets in tourism. Please share it with the world and let more people enjoy the beauty of your country.

To increase tourist numbers, you would have to establish some world-class attractions, especially family-orientated ones. Singapore’s Jurong Park is a great example and Kuala Lumpur’s Butterfly Park is another. Australia Zoo in Queensland would be a yardstick for the establishment of a world-class attraction.

Thank you Brunei for the memories.

As Arnold Schwarzenegger said, I’ll be back.
