BANGKOK (Bernama) – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) will hold huge Chinese New Year celebrations in 12 major tourist areas across the country to boost Chinese tourist arrivals during the long holiday.
A grand opening ceremony of the New Year celebrations will take place at China Town, Yaowarat, Vietnam News Agency (VNA) reported.
More than 670,000 Thai and foreign tourists are expected to join in the celebrations in the 12 areas from Feb 18 to 24.
The areas include Bangkok, Phuket, Nakhon Ratchasima, Ratchaburi, Phetchaburi, Trang, Suphan Buri, Nakhon Sawan, Songkhla’s Hat Yai district, Ayutthaya, Pattaya and Chiang Mai.
The TAT has projected 53,000 Chinese tourists will visit Thailand in February with tourism revenue estimated at 22.9 billion baht (US$702.46 million).
