RESIDENTS from Mukim Bangar and Mukim Labu of Temburong District recently attended a Community-Based Disaster Risk Management Programme conducted by the National Disaster Management Centre (NDMC).
The event took place at the Belalong Hall, Pekan Bangar.
The objective of the programme was aimed at providing the residents with basic knowledge on the importance of disaster management and prevention, as well as to emphasise the significance of safety and security.
The programme included talks on the introduction to disaster management, 2K2P concept as well as other important issues that were included in the “Public Safety and Emergency Basic Guidebook”.
Other significant matters brought to light during the programme, which were delivered by officers from NDMC, included floods, strong winds, chemical threat and causes of fires.
The authorities also brought the residents to visit areas within the two Mukims to guide and assist them in identifying areas that have high risks of occurence of disasters.
Certificates of participation and guidebooks were also distributed to the residents presented by the Temburong District Officer, Awang Abdul Hamid bin Dato Paduka Haji Abdullah, who was also the guest of honour.
Also present at the event were Col (Rtd) Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Rosli bin Pengiran Haji Chuchu, Director of NDMC, Awang Ajmin bin Haji Meludin, Assistant Temburong District Officer, Penghulu and village heads, as well as residents of Mukim Bangar and Mukim Labu.
