THE Temburong District held a national flag hoisting ceremony at the open area of Pekan Bangar’s waterfront in conjunction with the upcoming 31st National Day celebrations.
The guest of honour was Awang Haji Abdul Hamid bin Dato Paduka Haji Abdullah, Temburong District Officer. Also at the event were the OCPD Awang Azree bin Haji Talib, Officer in Charge of the Temburong Police District cum Co-Chairman of the event; YB Awang Haji Sulaiman bin Haji Ahad, a Legislative Council member; Awang Ajmin bin Haji Meludin, Assistant Temburong District Officer; heads of branch, Mukim Penghulus and village heads, uniformed associations and non-government associations, members of the Mukim and Village Consultative Councils, village residents and private companies.
The event began with a recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah. The national flag was then carried by Mukim Penghulus and village heads led by Awang Ajmin bin Haji Meludin, Assistant Temburong District Officer who then presented it to the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) for the flag hoisting event.
Students of Sultan Hassan Secondary School, Bangar sang the Brunei National Anthem ‘Allah Peliharakan Sultan’ followed by the ‘Bendera Negara’ song. The guest of honour also presented flags to the Temburong Mukim Penghulus.
The people of Brunei are to hoist the national flags at home or at government buildings or premises from February 8 to 26. Pengirans and persons holding titles must hoist their personal flags at home.
