AS TELBRU prepares to set its strategic direction and a comprehensive plan of activities for the coming years, a three-day management retreat and team-building session was organised recently for some 40 members of the company’s management.
Headed by David Kay, the company’s Chief Executive Officer, the participants deliberated among other things on the company’s achievements, challenges and plans for the future, a press release stated.
The importance of leadership, teamwork and effective communication in order to build a successful organisation also highlighted.
All these, as pointed out by David Kay in his welcome speech, will enable the company to move forward together in one direction as a unified team to achieve its objectives and goals.
It will also lead to improvements in the delivery of the company’s products and services to its customers.
During the retreat, team-building activities such as canoeing and rafting were carried out where participants were split into groups and worked as a team to accomplish a mission.
The activities enabled the participants to understand the importance of working as a team in overcoming obstacles and challenges.
In a real working environment, all the activities are examples of how each individual in a team can contribute to the success of both the team and the overall organisation.
The three-day activity, conducted at the Ulu-Ulu Resort in the Temburong District and facilitated by a Malaysian training company also gave the participants an opportunity to get to know each other, develop a good working relationship, establish a positive team culture and align themselves to the shared purpose, goals and targets of TelBru.
Edwin Lim, Project Manager for TelBru’s High Speed Broadband project, felt fully energised with a revitalised sense of purpose, upon returning from the activity.
“I felt a bond and connection established and strengthened and by the end of the retreat, I appreciated my colleagues more and made new friends. I hope with the renewed friendship, we can work more effectively together in delivering the projects for the benefits of our customers”, he said. His sentiments were positively echoed by others.
