THE Taman Asuhan Pertiwi conducted the school’s year end programme with a closing and certificate presentation ceremony at the school’s hall in Jalan Jawatan Dalam, yesterday.
Datin Paduka Hajah Zaharah binti Haji Idris, the chairlady of the school, was the chief guest.
The Acting Headmistress Datin Paduka Hajah Jusnani binti Haji Lawie, delivered a welcoming speech. Datin Paduka Hajah Zaharah presented prizes and certificates to the students.
In her welcoming speech, Datin Paduka Hajah Jusnani said that the ceremony used to be one of the annual activities of the school but an unforeseen circumstance had led them to put the activity on hold since 2002 until this year.
She now hopes that with the comeback of this activity, pupils would get an opportunity to show their parents their achievements.
She said it would also allow parents to get together and exchange views among themselves and with teachers and school committee members.
Taman Asuhan Pertiwi is one of the community projects of Pertiwi Association and was established in 1972 with the objective to help working mothers look after and guide their children’s education while at work.
The ceremony ended with a number of lively and entertaining song and dance performances by the young children of Taman Asuhan Pertiwi followed by a Doa Selamat.
