Talk on national identity for SMRIPAS students

THE Information Department in collaboration with the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha Secondary School (SMRIPAS) recently organised a programme for students from Years 7, 9 and 11, to learn more about the national identity of our country, Brunei Darussalam.

The guest of honour was Hajah Suriani binti Haji Noor Hashim, Head of Cluster 4, Ministry of Education.

The event began with the singing of the national anthem followed by the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah by Cikgu Julaihi bin Masri.

The students were then shown a series of video clips on the history and significance of the Brunei flag. The students were also reminded to always respect the national flag.

A talk on appreciating the national flag and our national anthem was delivered by Hasanul Hidayat bin Haji Abu Bakar, Head of the Information Department in Tutong District.

The students were also entertained to a traditional dance called ‘Qayyum Oh Ya Qayyum’.

A choral reading was also performed by Year 7 students entitled ‘Cinta Tanah Air’ followed by a choir performance from the Information Department.

The event ended with a quiz session and the presentation of a token of appreciation to the guest of honour.
