IN LIGHT of the global concern over the threat of terrorism, the Security and Enforcement Division under Prime Minister’s Office held a briefing on “Counter Terrorism (The Global Threat)” at the Prime Minister’s Office building.
The briefing was delivered by Nick Gibbons, Director of Strategy National Counter Terrorism, United Kingdom.
It was attended by various enforcement and government agencies.
Gibbons is no stranger to Brunei Darussalam.
He was one of the invited speakers at the Brunei International Defence Exhibition and Conference in 2009, where he delivered a topic on “Utilising Network Enable Capability To Meet Homeland Security Challenges’.
Yesterday’s briefing highlighted the UK’s enforcement and security agencies and how they accessed security threats and formulated control measures.
Gibbons also shared the security measurements taken during the London Olympic Games.
The guest of honor was Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (R) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs.
Also present were Dato Seri Pahlawan Bahrin Md Noor, Commissioner of Police of the Royal Brunei, Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Major General Dato Paduka Seri Md Tawih bin Abdullah, Commander of Royal Brunei Armed Forces, as well as senior officials from security and enforcement agencies.
