TAKING great holiday photos is not easy.
Especially when it comes to popular destinations and famous landmarks, most aspiring photographers will struggle to find a way to keep their friends from breaking into a yawn when they show off their creative efforts.
Photographers should give up trying to compete with award-winning shots of famous landmarks and instead focus on trying to create photos that stand out for being different, advises the German photography association Photo-Industrieverband.
The association recommends researching the places you will be visiting in advance and coming up with creative photo ideas before you travel.
This can be done by searching on the Internet, but it’s often more productive to look at guide books and printed photo books, as you’re less likely to jump quickly from image to image, the experts say.
Every time you have an idea for a picture, write it down, along with any thoughts you might have about the angle, time of day, light, contrast or shutter speed.
All of this will make things easier when you actually come to take the photo. – Text and Photo by dpa
