TWO comedic howlers in the veteran category of the 4th Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports Deputy Minister Futsal Cup lifted the interest of the crowd and fellow players at the Multi- Purpose Hall of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex yesterday.
JBS ‘B’ veteran goal-scorer Zainuddin miscued effort inadvertently went through the keeper’s legs having half-heartedly taking a touch of the ball.
JBS ‘B’ was in the ascendancy caressing the defence at their mercy but there was no end product to substantiate their dominance.
JBS ‘A’ received a free-kick from a non-threatening position but the keeper unconvincingly palmed a shot which bounced through his legs and embarrassingly towards goal for an uncommon second howler of the game.
The Department of Youth and Sports ‘A’ team eventually scored the winning goal after Hj Layar was left unmarked and required two touches to beat their opponents to the buzzer.
Meanwhile, the Department of Community Development (JAPEM) brushed aside JBS ‘B’ 2-0 in the second game of the night.
Bahrin opened the scoring before Md Azary coolly slotted home a second in a breakaway after a good defensive clearance.
The other teams in action last night include JBS ‘A’, Language and Literature Bureau (DBP), JBS ‘C’, History Centre, MCYS and the History Centre Veteran.
