MUHAMMAD Zaim bin Zaini, creator of ‘Sweet D’Lovely Syrup’, was named champion of the Signature Drink Competition Commemorating 100 Years of Formal Education in Brunei Darussalam.
He beat five other finalists at the Longhouse Training Cafe & Restaurant, Hospitality Department, Maktab Teknik Sultan Saiful Rijal (MTSSR) in Jalan Muara.
Guest of honour, Acting Permanent Secretary (Higher Education) at the Ministry of Education (MoE), Dr Hjh Anita Binurul Zahrina binti Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Wijaya Dato Seri Setia Hj Abdul Aziz, toured the Asean Kitchen, where the six finalists (chosen from 31 entries) prepared their signature drinks and then served them for tasting and display.
They highlighted the drinks’ composition (recipes used both local and non-local products) and inspiration.
The judging panel was made up of the guest of honour; Hjh Anis Faudzulani binti Hj Dzulkiflee, Senior Special Duties Officer of Higher Education at the MoE; Dr Law Song Seng, Senior Advisor at the MoE; Awg Rahimi Perdi, General Manager of Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) Corporation, and Adna Shatriremie bin Abdul Rahman, Coordinator for Entrepreneurship, UBD.
The guest of honour also presented a trophy, cash prize, certificate and token of appreciation to Muhd Zaim, while the other finalists received certificates and tokens of appreciation.
