TWO students of Nakhoda Ragam Vocational School (SVNR), Ahmad Faiz bin Bahrin and Muhammad Hussaini bin Hamlan, left the Sultanate yesterday for Indonesia to take part in the Asia Pacific ICT Alliance (APICTA) Awards, which is scheduled to take place this Saturday.
They were accompanied by school instructor Haliza binti Hj Abd Hadi.
Sponsored by the Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI) and the Ministry of Communications, the students will compete in the regional competition at the Binus International University, Indonesia.
They earned their right for the competition by virtue of being placed second in the Brunei Info-Communication Technology Awards (BICTA).
Their work incorporated staff network, sharing of resources such as lesson plan, work sheets and unit guides.
Muhammad Hussaini felt fairly confident but the competition will be tough as they will be up against over 100 other contestants.
He added that they will present their website and hoped its uniqueness will win over the judges’ hearts at the competition.
Ahmad Faiz said after their success in the BICTA, they had enhanced and elevated their website to the APICTA standards.
The APICTA Awards is hosted annually by a member country. These awards are aimed at “identifying and recognising” innovations in the ICT sector. These awards have grown in prominence with its credibility and reputation and have seen the awards series dubbed as the “Oscars of the ICT arena”.
