NAKHODA Ragam Vocational School (SVNR) yesterday delivered aid to two fire victims – Hj Moktal bin Hj Latif of Kg Sg Besar and Pg Naruddin bin Pg Norabidin of Kg Saba Darat B – who suffered heavy losses in house fire occurred during the month of Syawal.
The SVNR team was led by Amin Nor Rashid Hj Ibrahim, Acting Deputy Principal (Administration) of SVNR. The team went to the residences of the fire victims to personally hand over the donations.
Both recipients were seen elated when they received the contributions, which came in the form of financial assistance and daily necessities.
Pg Naruddin is currently living in a temporary residence provided by JAPEM in Kg Subok with his parents, wife and children.
Left with almost nothing, Pg Naruddin expressed gratitude for the assistance he received yesterday.
“Although we have lost almost everything in the fire, I am grateful to Allah the Almighty for protecting my family members unharmed. It was hard for my family and myself to recover. It was hard for us to move forward as there was nothing left behind,” he said.
Still saddened at their loss, Pg Naruddin appealed for the government to expedite his housing application so that he can start life anew with his family.
Amin Nor Rashid said the event was one of the school’s outreach programmes organised with the help from other educational institutions such as Mechanical Training Centre (PLM), Business School (SP) and Sultan Saiful Rijal Technical College (MTSSR).
Donations were collected from the teachers and staff of each school and were handed over to the victims. He added that other basic necessities such as clothing and foods were also handed over to the victims.
“Hopefully the donation will help their family recover from the tragic incident,” he said.
Among the objectives of the outreach programme is to raise awareness among students to always lend a helping hand to those who are in dire need of assistance.
