A 20-YEAR-OLD local male has been detained by the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) in connection with a Shell petrol station robbery case which took place on Tuesday night.
According to the police, the suspect allegedly charged into the Jerudong Shell station through the back door and threatened a Shell station attendant with a weapon believed to be a parang.
The suspect allegedly stole a money pouch containing proceeds from petrol sales.
Fortunately, the Shell station attendant was not hurt.
According to eyewitnesses, the suspect fled the scene in a white saloon vehicle.
CCTV footage showed that there was only one suspect in a black shirt involved in the robbery.
The police succeeded in tracking down the suspect, who was subsequently detained for further investigations.
The case will be investigated under Section 398 Chapter 22 of the Penal Code, which is robbery with the use of a dangerous weapon.
