HIS Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam is expected to attend the meet-and-greet session with students and citizens of Brunei Darussalam in the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland tomorrow (December 28) at London Hilton Park Lane Hotel, according to the Brunei Students Union in UK website.
This is one of the most anticipated events for Bruneians studying, working or holidaying in the UK and Northern Ireland for they will be able to exchange greetings with the monarch and other members of the royal family.
Last year, over 2,800 students and citizens of Brunei attended the gathering, in which His Majesty, in a titah, expressed his satisfaction that more Brunei students were able to pursue their studies at leading universities, including those that are ranked top 10 in the world.
The monarch reminded the students that an academic certificate alone was not the ultimate measure of a student’s success but the important factor was the impact of their contribution to the nation.
Meanwhile, officials from the Ministry of Education led by Dato Paduka Dr Hj Zulkarnain bin Hj Hanafi, the Permanent Secretary (Higher Education) at the Ministry of Education and Vice Chancellor of Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), will also be holding a dialogue session with PhD, Masters and ‘Discovery Year’ students at the Brunei Hall on December 29.
