HIS Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam yesterday participated in the final of the charity polo tournament for the Yayasan Children’s Cancer Foundation (YASKA) at the Royal Brunei Polo and Riding Club.
His Majesty led the Black Team to victory in the Richard Mille Gold Cup Final after securing a 7-6 win over the Red Team.
His Majesty and Her Royal Highness Princess ‘Azemah Ni’matul Bolkiah came up against the Red Team, led by His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen.
His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Wakeel, Her Royal Highness Princess Ameerah Wardatul Bolkiah as well as other members of the royal family were present to watch the charity tournament.
Also competing in the Silver Cup Final was His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah, whose Grey Team was beaten 5-4 by the White Team.
There was an abundance of skills on the field and no shortage of enthusiasm from all riders.
The royals were engaged in competitive battles in the exciting final as they played alongside Argentine stars Pablo Macdonough and Lucas Monteverde.
His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen gave the Red Team an early advantage with the first goal of the game.
With both sides on equal terms in the remaining moments of an action-packed tie, Her Royal Highness Princess ‘Azemah Ni’matul Bolkiah continued her high standards set throughout the chukkas contested to help bring the team to victory.
His Majesty later consented to collect the Richard Mille Gold Cup Trophy from Peter Harrison, Chief Executive Officer of Richard Mille.
