IT WAS a day of blessings for five underprivileged families living in the Brunei-Muara District when Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit Girls Arabic Religious Secondary School (SUAMPRIPAD) held their second charity drive recently.
The five families that were selected for the programme were provided with basic necessities such as rice, instant noodles, canned food and drinks. The donations were collected through a charity event organised by the school that saw the participation of teachers, staff and students.
Among the recipients was Md Arham bin Tajuddin whose house in Kg Perpindahan Lambak Kanan was badly damaged by fire. The donations were handed over by SUAMPRIPAD’s head of co-curricular department, Cikgu Haji Shahnon bin Haji Ahmad, to Md Arham’s wife.
Contributions were also given to Awg Salim bin Kassim, a retiree who has heart disease, and living with his wife and four grandchildren in Kg Salambigar, Jln Muara. His wife expressed her happiness and excitement after she received the donated basic necessities from the school.
Another recipient, Qabul bin Omar, is unemployed and lives with his wife and children in Kg Belimbing, Jln Subok.
The school delegation also made a stop at the home of Dyg Halus binti Haji Badar, a widow, living with 17 family members in a wooden house in Kg Parit. She does not have any source of income and one of her children is handicapped and suffers from asthma.
The last recipient, Dyg Taisah binti Hidup, lives in Kg Junjungan in a run down house with her son and her husband who has a heart disease.
