THE Information Department, Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), hosted a visit by a delegation of about 90 students and teachers from Lambak Kanan Jalan 49 Primary School, yesterday.
They were welcomed by senior officers and staff of the Information Department.
The visit began with the singing of the national anthem and “Bendera Negara” followed by the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat led by Pg Arsul bin Pg Hj Abd Momin, an officer from the Information Department.
A briefing was then presented by an officer from the Information Department, Hj Dayang bin Hj Kassim on the main role played by the department in safeguarding the image of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, the nation and the government.
The Information Department also plays a main role in the dissemination of news and information on policies, activities and programmes of the government to the people of Brunei.
Hj Dayang further explained that one of the strategies of the department is to channel information through printed media such as the Pelita Brunei, published on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, books that are based on the nation as well as social networking sites such as Facebook “Jabatan Penerangan Jabatan Perdana Menteri”, Instagram “Infodept.bn” and Twitter “infodept_bn”.
A question-and-answer session was held afterwards. The delegation also had the opportunity to visit the mini gallery located at the lobby of the department.
