OVER 600 Upper Sixth students from Maktab Duli Pengiran Muda Al-Muhtadee Billah (MDPMAMB) yesterday attended the Education UK Exhibition organised at the MDPMAMB Auditorium with the intention of exposing students to higher education opportunities in the UK.
Thirty-one universities and higher education institutions from the UK participated in the event, including the University College Birmingham, University of Birmingham, Brunel University London, Cardiff Metropolitan University, Cardiff University, University of East Anglia, and University of Exeter among others.
As part of the exhibition, MDPMAMB also organised seminars at its Conference Room and Student Learning Centre, as well as the Art Bungalow 2, allowing students to choose which talk they wished to attend. Topics discussed included ‘How to choose the right course and university & Writing Personal Statements; How to Make Yours and Stand Out’, ‘Pharmacy Degree – What to expect in your studies and for your future career’, ‘Environmental Science at University’ and ‘Being Creative; Theory vs Practice at UK Universities (Arts and Media)’.
The objectives of the exhibition were to provide students the opportunity to explore their options with UK universities after completing their A Level studies and to conduct research on their selected courses, in line with Maktab Duli’s VISION project.
The exhibition allowed students to enquire about available courses, entry requirements, student visa applications and English language requirements from representatives of the participating universities.
This is the second Education UK Exhibition hosted by MDPMAMB, with the first held in 2013. It is organised by the Higher Education Unit of the college. Also invited to the exhibition were other Sixth Form colleges and the Hassanal Bolkiah Arabic Boys Secondary School.
