THE Alumni Association of Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) organised a two-day ‘Muhasabah Diri Programme’ in collaboration with the Jalinan Akrab Belia Terunggul (JABaT) Club of the Youth Centre at its auditorium, yesterday.
Officiating the event was the guest of honour, Dr Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal, Rector of UNISSA. The launching ceremony began with a recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat followed by a speech from the guest of honour.
Dr Haji Norarfan highlighted the efforts by the Alumni Association to organise activities and programmes to contribute to the society. He also reminded the alumni members of the importance to be responsible and sincere when helping others.
“The alumni must uphold the concept of ownership or belonging not only within the alumni but also UNISSA,” he said.
The Muhasabah Diri Programme is timely in facing today’s social issues and challenges, especially among youths.
The programme provides a platform to disseminate the teachings of Islam and strengthen the youth’s beliefs and values. The participants from various educational institutions will take part in various activities throughout the two-day programme such as campus visit and religious motivational talk on “Celik Mata Hati” and “Tenang Hati dan Minda”. The programme’s facilitators are Ustaz Farizal Ali, Prison’s Assistant Counsellor; and Ustazah Aisyah Humairah, Religious Research Officer.
Among the objectives are to provide opportunities for the alumni to collaborate with non-government organisations (NGOs) and provide exposure to the community.
The UNISSA Alumni will also hold the ‘Rector’s Trophy Oratory Competition’ for Higher Education Institutions in conjunction with the “Belia Cinta Rasul” Carnival which will take place at the Indoor Stadium of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in January next year. Interested participants can contact Dk Hjh Mumtazah binti Pengiran Haji Md Jaafar at 7139 049 for further information.
