MELAKA (Bernama) – The Special Tactical and Intelligence Narcotics Group (STING) and Melaka police seized syabu with a market value of RM5.2 million after raiding a drug processing laboratory in Kampung Bukit Tinggi, Jasin at 2pm on Monday.
Melaka deputy police chief SAC Mohd Shahrizan Che Mat Din said during the raid at a house in a coconut plantation, police seized 38.98kg of brown liquid and crystal pieces believed to be syabu.
“With the amount, we believe the drug is for nationwide distribution and we do not rule out the possibility of the international market as well, nonetheless the matter is being investigated,” he told a press conference yesterday.
He said chemicals such as hydrochloric acid, ethanol and acetone as well as drug processing equipment such as cooking gas was also seized during the raid while two local men aged 41 and 29 and an Indian national aged 31, were detained to assist investigations.
Mohd Shahrizan said the 41-year-old man who worked as a lorry driver had previous criminal records for robbery while the other man, a taxi driver and the Indian national who worked in the plantation had no criminal records.
