BERLIN (dpa) – Even short computer games usually take one or two evenings of gaming to get through and for epic role-playing games it can take 40 to 60 hours to complete the game to the final level.
No wonder then that many games fans really exploit only a fraction of their collection. Now they can find just how much potential is left in the games library they already own by visiting the SteamLeft website – at least for titles bought or registered through the Steam platform.
Once you log in with a Steam account, the site compares your playing time so far with the average time it took other gamers to get to the end of that same game. The data comes from the Howlongtobeat.com website.
SteamLeft then calculates the theoretical number of hours that you could get out of your games library. Even the most hardcore gamers are likely to be shocked by the figures. According to SteamLeft, the record is around 39,000 hours.
That’s about 4.5 years of play without spending a single extra dollar to buy a new game.
