STANDARD Chartered Bank recently hosted a group of more than 20 students from Innova Junior College Singapore as part of their 11-day Twinning Cum Immersion Programme to Brunei for students of Malay Language Elective Programme organised by the School Division, Ministry of Education, Singapore, a press release stated.
The students were accompanied by their teachers and Mohd Fuad Salim, Head of Department, Mother Tongue Languages of Innova Junior College. Part of the learning objectives of the Immersion Programme was to understand the various roles and functions of a financial institution in the economy.
During the afternoon visit which was held at Standard Chartered’s Priority Banking Centre in Gadong, Pg Aki Ismasufian bin Pg Hj Ibrahim, Head of Corporate Strategic Initiatives, welcomed the students to the bank before handing over the session to Marilyn Graeme, Senior Manager Corporate Affairs who briefed the students on the structure of the bank as well as the sustainability programmes implemented by Standard Chartered.
The students were then led through a financial education segment for their personal benefit by Tan Lee Ngee, Senior Branch Manager at Gadong Branch.
They were also engaged in pop quizzes and interactive question and answer sessions.
Pg Aki said in his welcoming remarks, “We’re delighted to host the students to this sharing session and believe that early education on financial matters is important for the development of youth in the community.”
