YAYASAN Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (YSHHB) yesterday conducted special prayers for students currently attending extra classes for the Intervention Education Programme (PIP), which runs under YSHHB, in preparation for their upcoming examinations.
Held at the Sultan Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque in the capital, the event saw YSHHB board of directors member Dato Paduka Dr Haji Affendy bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin as the guest of honour.
The ceremony opened with mass Sunnat Hajat prayers and was followed by mass recitation of the Surah Yaasiin and Doa Selamat led by Begawan Pehin Khatib Dato Paduka Awang Haji Zainuddin bin Begawan Pehin Siraja Khatib Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Mohd Tamin.
The event also saw four Year 7 students, who attended the PIP last year, inking YSHHB scholarship contracts. The students are Muazammil bin Hasni, Mohammad Alimin bin Hamdan, Siti Noorhidayah binti Durahman and Nurul Izzah Izzati binti Rozaine.
YSHHB Managing Director Haji Brahim bin Haji Ismail and YSHHB Assistant Managing Director Hajah Donnaliza binti Abdullah Puasa signed on behalf of YSHHB, in the presence of the guest of honour, members of the board of directors of YSHHB, senior Ministry of Education officials and YSHHB personnel.
To date, since PIP’s inception in 2010, a total of 25 students have been granted scholarships to pursue their education at YSHHB Secondary School.
