THE Sultan Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien College (SOASC) recently presented the college’s ‘Road to Brilliance’ (RtB) Awards to some Year 11 students who have shown either sustained performance or improvement in the last qualifying examination held in July.
Held at the college’s gymnasium, the awards were presented by Principal Haji Ismail bin Haji Zainal.
RtB Awards, which was newly introduced at the college, is part of the Academic Programme with the aim of recognising and appreciating the students’ academic achievements in the qualifying examination.
The award is also aimed at giving motivation and inspiration to the students to achieve more in the forthcoming examinations. There were five categories in the RtB Awards – Gold Awards, Silver Awards, Bronze Awards, Brilliance Awards and Progressive Awards.
During the ceremony, 12 students received Gold Awards, 17 won Silver Awards, 68 got Bronze Awards, 17 received Brilliant Awards and five bagged Progressive Awards.
Principal Haji Ismail, in his speech, highlighted the importance of the involvement of parents and guardians in the success of their children.
One of the best practices for improving students’ academic performances is the Home Link whereby parents and guardians meet with the administration committee of SOASC together with the students to discuss their performance at the college as well as the collaboration between the three parties.
