SERI Mulia Sarjana School (SMSS) yesterday held its 23rd Graduation and Awarding Ceremony – for its 366 students from the secondary and primary section – at the Rizqun International Hotel in Gadong.
The guest of honour at the event was Haji Nazmi bin Haji Mohamad, Permanent Secretary (Management and International) at the Ministry of Finance.
The event began with a Tausyeh performance followed by a welcoming remark by Gazala binti Abdullah, the Principal of the Secondary Section.
In her remarks, she stated that apart from the 366 graduates are 60 award recipients from Year 1 to Year 11.
The principal later added that for over 20 years, SMSS has proven to the community that they are among the best private schools in Brunei with a great deal of contributions to the development of education in the country by producing excellent students academically as well as in co-curricular activities.
“Many of our students have accomplished a lot of meritorious conquest, graduated and held notable posts either in the government or private sectors both national and international,” said the principal.
Moreover, she also stated that the recipients will be receiving acclaimed awards comprising of the Loyalty Award, Academic Award, TAIB Award and the Mandarin Award, including two very prestigious awards which are the ‘Student of the Year’ and the ‘Dr Mary Lim’s Leadership’ awards.
“We continuously seek to develop our students’ personal strengths, to learn about life and its challenges, while simultaneously acquiring knowledge in academia,” stated the principal, adding that a huge part of their vision is to give students confidence in their own abilities, and understand how they might find their place in this world.
The guest of honour also delivered a speech which was followed by the Academic Awards for the Top 3 students of each level, the Loyalty Awards, Mandarin Language Awards, TAIB Award, Student of the Year Award, Dr Mary Lim’s Leadership Award, Certificates to Year 6 and Secondary Graduating students.
Also shown during the event was a Video Tribute entitled ‘One Sarjana’ that included Primary and Secondary sections.
