IN CONJUNCTION with the upcoming 31st National Day celebration, the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports distributed mini national flags to various schools in the Sultanate.
In the Tutong District, the distribution of national flags for primary, secondary and Arabic school students was hosted by Sufri Bolkiah (SMSB) Secondary School, Tutong.
The guest of honour at the event was the Permanent Secretary (Media and Cabinet) at the Prime Minister’s Office, Haji Mohd Rozan bin Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yunos.
The event kicked off with the raising of national flag by the uniform personnel of SMSB and the singing of the national anthem, ‘Allah Peliharakan Sultan’.
Prior to the distribution of the flags, the Acting Principal of SMSB, Goh Siah Ching, gave a welcoming speech.
In her speech, Goh Siah Ching said SMSB is proud to host the event.
She believed such an event is capable of raising the patriotic spirit of the younger generation in the country. She added that the national flag is a symbol of sovereignty and national identity.
The mini national flags were then distributed simultaneously by the guest of honour; the Head of Cluster 5 Primary Schools in the Tutong District, Haji Aliuddin bin Abdul Rahman; the Acting Director of Research and International Relations, Ministry of Culture Youth and Sports, Fauziah binti Haji Abdul Hamid; and the Acting Director of the Community Development Department (JAPEM), MYCS, Noridah binti Abdul Hamid.
The event continued with the singing of several patriotic songs by the students, teachers, staff, guests and the guest of honour.
